Consumers buy $40 billion of fresh chicken each year with the belief that it’s healthy and natural. But some chicken companies are pumping-up their chickens with added sodium, saltwater and other ingredients and then labeling it as "All Natural."

Incredibly, some brands include 15 and even 20 percent saltwater!

And because the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is failing to enforce its own regulations, companies that pump-up their chicken are now allowed to label their brands as “100% All Natural.” The Truthful Labeling Coalition believes that chicken pumped up with sodium, additives and other ingredients shouldn’t be labeled “natural!”

Last year, the Truthful Labeling Coalition also weighed-in on the confusion and controversy that arose around the “Raised Without Antibiotics” claim.

That’s why we’re committed to:

Urging the USDA to only allow only 100% natural chicken (with no additives) to include the "Natural" claim.

Urging the USDA to require that all chicken producers identify all added ingredients in BOLD print to ensure consumers can make informed choices.

Urging the USDA to ensure that the “Raised Without Antibiotics” label claim is reserved only for those brands of poultry that don’t use any compounds classified as antibiotics.
